Dean Peak Fire 65 percent contained; evacuations lifted

KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Authorities have lifted evacuations on multiple housing communities affected by the Dean Peak Fire.
With crews making significant progress on the lightning-caused fire, residents of Pine Lake, Pinion Pines and Gertz Ranch are now allowed to return to their homes, officials said Sunday.
Authorities have also announced that the fire is at 65 percent containment, a 40 percent jump from Friday's update. They say nearly all the fire perimeter has been cold-trailed or lined, and firefighters will continue to check for hotspots as mop-up operations continue.
Although residents can go back, they can still expect to see personnel working the area, and they are asked to keep their headlights on and watch out for large equipment and engines.
An informational open house will be held at Pine Lake Fire Department Station 62 at 6 p.m. Sunday for residents to ask questions and review maps of the burn area.
