PHOENIX -- Three bodies were found in the desert south of Gila Bend Friday morning, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies, with the assistance of the U.S. Border Patrol, recovered the bodies off state Route 85.

Four bundles of drugs were found near the bodies, according to MCSO spokesman Officer Chris Hegstrom.

It is believed that the three males had been dead for at least a week. Temperatures approached 120 degrees during this time frame.

On June 20, Border Patrol agents found the bodies of four men in the desert along Interstate 8 near Gila Bend. Four days later, another body was discovered a couple of miles away.
