PEORIA, Ariz. -- One person is dead and four more are in the hospital after a pickup truck rolled near Lake Pleasant Thursday morning.

It happened just before 8 a.m. on Castle Hot Springs Road just north of the Lake Pleasant access road.

According to Amanda Jacinto of the Peoria Police Department, three people who were in the back of the truck were ejected when the pickup rolled.

Two males and two females suffered serious injuries, and were air-lifted to a local hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available. The victims range in age from 16 to 24.

A fifth person, a 27-year-old Phoenix man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aerial video from Chopper 3 showed how far the truck rolled off the road.

Castle Hot Springs Road was closed in both directions for a time, which caused backups and delays for people heading to Lake Pleasant.

At this point, it's not clear what caused the driver of the pickup to lose control of the vehicle, but investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor.

Police have not released any other details about the victims.

"At this point all we can say it appears they lost control. We don't have a speed yet at this point. Investigators are still working the accident," said Lt. Richard Scrivens with the Peoria Police Dept.
