PHOENIX-- We all have to get around this Fourth of July. Just make sure you haven’t been drinking before you get behind the wheel of a car.

With that in mind, AAA Arizona tells 3 On Your Side that they'll once again offer their "Tipsy Tow" service. It provides a free 10-mile tow and ride home if you've been drinking.

If your trip is more than 10 miles, you'll be charged a standard rate for the different.

It’s a good idea because Valley police departments will be on the lookout for drunk drivers.

“The Fourth of July is often enjoyed with barbecues, beer and fireworks,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “As a safety advocate, AAA urges Arizonans to plan for a safe ride home before they celebrate the red, white and blue.”

A DUI will cost you thousands of dollars, jail time and your insurance rates will sky rocket.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says an alcohol-related death happens in the U.S. every 45 minutes. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division there were nearly 40,000 alcohol-related crashes and nearly 1,800 fatalities between 2004 and 2009.
In addition, Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that there were nearly 230,000 DUI arrests within those five years.

If you want to take advantage of the Tipsy Tow service, you can dial 1-800-AAA HELP starting at 6 p.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday. And remember, it's free.
