PHOENIX -- A Phoenix woman has been sentenced to probation and jail time after pleading guilty to one count of child abuse for allowing her two young children to eat aspirin and other pills from bottles.
Jessica Harvey, 33, was sentenced to three years of supervised probation with drug and alcohol terms and 90 days in jail beginning Wednesday.
Harvey was arrested in May after a neighbor reported seeing the children on the patio eating pills from six different bottles that did not have lids.
The neighbor stopped the children from eating the pills and went inside Harvey's home to check on her. Harvey was found unresponsive on the floor.
Phoenix Fire Department crews treated Harvey for several minutes before she eventually came to.
Police said one of the children was found to have a life-threatening amount of aspirin in his system and his stomach had to be pumped.
