PHOENIX -- Temperatures are on the upswing around Arizona, and for the next couple of days, we’re going to see record or near-record high temperatures.
In the Valley, highs Friday will range from 115 to 120 degrees, with Sky Harbor expected to reach 118.
In the high country, places like Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon will be in the mid to upper 90s. Prescott, Show Low, Payson will see triple-digit highs. It’s likely these very hot temperatures will continue through Sunday.
Also, with the heat and the sun, we have an Ozone Advisory for metro Phoenix. That’s essentially a warning forecasting unhealthful levels of ozone both Friday and Saturday. Ozone levels are usually at their highest in the late afternoon and evening hours.
Temperatures are forecast to “break” by Tuesday, but we’ll still be above normal. And we’re starting to see some signs that by July 4, (or July 3) we may even see a dust storm in Phoenix.
