3OYS Update: Licensed contractor steps upPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- After months of aggravation and waiting, new cabinets are finally being installed in Kimberly Penrod's kitchen.
"It's awesome I can't wait to use it," says Penrod.
You may recall Penrod from an earlier 3 On Your Side report when an unlicensed contractor by the name of Jesse Marquez walked off the job after taking more than $3,000 to install new cabinets.
The Arizona Registrar of Contractors credited that report in helping them to zero in on the Marquez family.
In fact, the state agency arrested Jesse’s son Frank Marquez on unrelated contracting violations, even though Jesse had returned the money his father took.
"All your business cards all your advertisement has to have an R.O.C. number if you're a licensed contractor," says Brian Manus.
Manus and his son Justin run a company called M3 remodeling, and say they were inspired by our 3 On Your Side report and asked if their company could finish Penrod’s cabinet project.
"The only thing I requested of her was she pay for the material and all of our labor is donated," says Manus.
"When we hear about these things and we see families like this who've gone through this, I think as a human being it's the right thing to do," says Manus
"Thank you to Brian and M3 remodeling for doing a terrific job on the kitchen and also for you guys of course," says Penrod.
