PEORIA, Ariz. -- Three men are in the hospital and a woman is in police custody after a fight ended in a double stabbing -- all for the love of a woman.

A man called 911 at about 1 a.m., telling the dispatcher that he had been beaten up by two other men. He also told the 911 operator that he had stabbed those men.

Officers were on the scene in the neighborhood northeast of 87th Avenue and Bell Road in Peoria all morning.

Investigators originally thought this might have been a love triangle, but later determined that was not the case. Rather, they believe this started with some flirting that angered a jealous boyfriend.

According to police, there was a small party at a home where the man who called 911 apparently started flirting with a woman. The woman's boyfriend took exception to the man's actions and, along with another man and a woman, went after him.

A fight broke out. The victim tried to run, but the others chased him into the street, continuing to beat him. The man pulled out a knife and stabbed the two male attackers in self-defense.

All three men, all of whom are in their mid-20s, were taken to a local hospital and are expected to recover.

Police are still trying to sort out the situation, working to determine what kind of charges might come into play.

Police later identified the female attacker as Amber Jones. She was arrested for aggravated assault. Police said Jones is not the girlfriend at the center of the fight and was not injured in the altercation.

Investigators have not released the names of the three men involved in the fight and subsequent stabbing.
