SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- It's the beauty store best known for providing skincare for the stars. Now it's moving in, right down the street.

Kiehl’s, a 162-year-old New York-based seller of skin care products, opened its first store in Arizona today at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

You can not only find skincare products for women, but an extensive line for men as well.

"Guys' needs are very different," says company president Chris Salgardo. "We have thicker skin; it's more oily. Plus, we shave."

One of the biggest trends in mens' skincare is wrinkle control. "That's why we came up with a product called Heavy Lifting," says Salgardo. "It's made with a combination of alpha hydroxy acids, so it exfoliates the skin." It also includes a linseed extract.

Under your eyes is also an area of concern for both men and women. Eye Alert is a key product to treat that area. "I love this one because it has caffeine in it, and it helps to stimulate the skin," says Salgardo.

As part of today's grand opening, Kiehl’s has partnered with UMOM, a local organization providing shelter, housing and services to Valley homeless families. In addition to donating $3,000 to the nonprofit, Kiehl’s is hosting a diaper drive during the grand opening event.

Anyone who donates a package of diapers on opening day will receive a free Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 and a complimentary mini-facial.

Kiehl's specializes in making premium skin, hair, and body care products. Founded as a single pharmacy in New York City in 1851, Kiehl's was purchased by the L'Oreal Group in 2000. It currently has more than 30 retail stores worldwide, supplemented by sales in high-end department stores.

Kiehl's is known for its unorthodox marketing approach, celebrity customers, exceptionally large male clientele base and its products' simple and straightforward packaging.
