PHOENIX (AP) -- A woman has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a kidnapping and abduction that ended in a 12-hour police standoff in west Phoenix last month.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 19-year-old Bernadette Beanes entered her plea Thursday.
A grand jury indicted Beanes on 41 felony counts, including 38 counts for aggravated assault, eight counts of kidnapping and one count of first-degree murder.
Beanes is accused of helping 32-year-old Israel Celis kidnap a woman and 3-year-old son on May 20.
Authorities say Celis bound a woman and sexually assaulted her at a Tolleson hotel before leaving with the boy and Beanes.
Celis later fatally shot himself to end the standoff.
Prosecutors say Beanes faces a murder charge because Celis died in the commission of a felony she's accused of participating in.
