Car theft caught on cameraPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Caught on camera, a car being stolen from a valley dealership!
"I've never had a car stolen," said Scott Watson, owner of 101 Auto Outlet near 19th Ave and Loop 101.
But Thursday morning changed that when shortly after 1 a.m. two thieves were caught by surveillance cameras loading a 2004 black suburban onto a trailer and towing it away.
"That was a brand new piece of inventory we hadn't even designated it as whole sale or retail," said Watson.
He's only been at this location near 19th Avenue and Rose Garden Lane for a couple months and never expected anything like this.
"Who would do that right out front and why that car?" said Watson.
The suspects passed up a Porche, a Lexus and a Cadillac, taking only the Suburban and it took them less than 15 minutes to get it and get away.
Now Watson is not only mad but offended by the demeanor of the suspects.
"They look very calm, cool and collected," said Watson.
They look as if it was no big deal, but this theft is a big deal to Watson.
"We really do try to offer cars for less than other places and the only way to do it is to keep cost down and this is really a setback," said Watson. "I want my car back, I want my truck back and I want these guys caught."
Fortunately for Watson, the suspects are caught on camera and their vehicles can be seen as clear as day; A blue Mini Cooper with a white or silver V stripe on the hood and a white Chevy crew cab dually with marker lights on top.
Given this information, Watson is confident.
"It's just a matter of time. Their days are numbered," he proclaimed.
Phoenix police are reviewing the video and investigating this case. They say more and more often thieves are using tow trucks and trailers to steal cars from dealerships and apartments buildings.
Often someone sees it happening but doesn't even think twice.
Of course if you are ever suspicious of a tow you can report it to police and they will be able to tell you if it is legit or not.
If you have any information regarding this case you are urged to call Silent Witness.
