SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A wanted sex offender who was barricaded inside a Scottsdale apartment Thursday morning was arrested after a brief struggle.

Scottsdale police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark said the U.S. Marshals Child Predator Apprehension Team attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a convicted child sex predator who wasn't complying with the registration requirements.

The task force members contacted the suspect at an apartment near 78th Street and Heatherbrae Avenue just after 6 a.m. Thursday.

Clark said the suspect was holed up in a bedroom.

A SWAT Team and negotiators were called to the scene.

The tactical team made entry into the residence at 9:15 a.m. and arrested the suspect after a brief struggle.

Clark said the suspect, whose name was not released, was treated by paramedics for ingesting an unknown drug.

No officers were injured.
