PHOENIX -- Police are trying to determine who shot a man and left him to die in the middle of a South Phoenix street early Thursday morning.

The victim, a 25-year-old Hispanic man, was found near Central Avenue north of Broadway Road.

According to police, Francisco Espinoza-Jauregui was visiting a home in the neighborhood.

"He was in the street when a vehicle pulled up next to him and someone in the vehicle shot Francisco," Sgt. Tommy Thompson said in an email to media outlets Friday morning. "The vehicle fled the scene and Francisco died in the street"

At this point, investigators don't have much information about the suspect nor do they know if the suspect and victim were acquainted.

Witnesses reported seeing a silver, gray or gold SUV with tinted window and  "expensive" chrome rims with black accents leaving the neighborhood.
