PHOENIX -- Police say alcohol was a factor in an overnight crash involving a Phoenix police officer.

Police investigators said the officer's vehicle T-boned a car at the intersection of Roosevelt and 24th streets in Phoenix at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

The officer and the other driver were taken to a nearby hospital. There is no word on the extent of their injuries.

There was excessive damage to both vehicles.

Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said the driver of the car that was hit had been drinking.
