Mother arrested after children seen eating pillsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police arrested a woman this week after her young children were reportedly seen eating pills on her patio.
According to police, Jessica Harvey’s neighbor went outside to smoke a cigarette on Tuesday afternoon when she saw Harvey’s two children on the patio by themselves.
The kids were reportedly ingesting pills from six different bottles that did not have a lid.
The neighbor immediately stopped the children from eating the pills, and went inside Harvey’s home to find her unresponsive and laying half way in the bathroom and halfway in the hallway.
The neighbor took Harvey’s children outside and called the Phoenix Fire Department.
Fire crews arrived at the residence, which is located near Peoria and 15th Avenue, to find Harvey still lying on the floor.
Phoenix Fire treated Harvey for several minutes before she eventually came to.
Police said inside the apartment authorities found garbage, old food, and bugs.
Harvey’s children were taken to Banner Thunderbird Hospital, where one of the children was found to have a life-threatening amount of asprin in his system. The child’s stomach was pumped, but word of his condition has not been revealed.
Harvey, 33, was taken to jail where she reportedly admitted to drinking all day, and said she didn’t know what she might have ingested.
She’s now facing charges of child abuse and endangerment.
