SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Well-known Valley chef Eddie Matney has been arrested for alleged drug possession and driving on a suspended license.
Scottsdale police say Matney was taken into custody May 20 after officers reportedly found marijuana in his vehicle.
An officer pulled Matney over near 68th Street and Camelback Road due to a partially obscured license plate.
A subsequent check showed that Matney's registration and driving privileges had been suspended.
While waiting for a tow truck, officers allegedly found marijuana in Matney's vehicle.
Matney issued the following statement Tuesday evening: "I was pulled over for a traffic infraction last week. A very small amount of marijuana was found with fishing equipment. I don't have any further comment besides apologizing for the distraction this has caused."
Matney is the owner of Eddie's House restaurant in Scottsdale.
