AVONDALE, Ariz. -- A man is dead after two cars hit him on an Avondale road early Tuesday morning.

It happened at about 3:30 a.m. on Buckeye Road (MC 85) just east of 107th Avenue.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, two drivers, both of whom were eastbound, called 911 to report hitting something in the road. When they stopped to look and see exactly what they had hit, they discovered that the "something" was actually a someone.

Both drivers remained at the scene. Aerial video showed a white car with extensive windshield damage.

Investigators say there does not appear to be any impairment on the part of the drivers.

The victim, described only as a white or light-skinned Hispanic male, has not been identified.

The collision is under investigation.

Buckeye Road was closed between 99th and 107th avenues while detectives did their on-scene work. 3TV traffic reporter Gina Maravilla suggested drivers use Lower Buckeye Road or Van Buren Street to avoid the scene.

Information will be updated as it comes into the 3TV newsroom.
