GLENDALE , Ariz. -- Fire investigators in Glendale are trying to figure out why a valley woman's home caught fire twice in the same day. It happened near 75th Avenue and Glendale.

“Yeah, I'm scared of that. Yeah, I'm scared of this because it's crazy,” said Carla Flowers, standing outside her home, watching firefighters tear holes in the roof to fight the fire. Glendale fire officials told 3TV there was a small mattress fire at Flowers’ home on Monday morning.

But Flowers said by the time she brought the kids home from school in the afternoon, something fishy was going on again.

“Somebody was in my home because they vandalized my whole house,” Flowers told 3TV. “They snatched my kitchen curtains down, threw trash all over the house, turned the couches and chairs over, pulled out dresser drawers and dumped clothes out on the floors.”

Flowers said as she was inspecting the home for damage she smelled smoke.

“I went back to check the house and I saw a flame, and that the closet was on fire,” said Flowers. “Somebody had to come in and do it.”

The Glendale Fire Department said the situation is under investigation.  While officials wouldn't comment on whether the fires are suspicious, they did tell 3TV that two fires in the same house in the same day is “not too common.”

Flowers said the fire displaced her and eight others. The American Red Cross helped he family get re-situated for the night.
