MESA, Ariz. -- A Chandler woman was arrested after a fatal crash on eastbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway at Recker Road Thursday night.

Liane Lucinda Corwin, 46, was booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Fourth Avenue Jail on a manslaughter charge.

According to court documents, a driver had pulled over in the emergency lane and was in front of his disabled vehicle with the hood up when Corwin's SUV rear-ended his car at about 6:30 p.m.

The driver of the disabled car was struck by his vehicle and died at the scene. He has been identified as A Jay Cotten, 40, of Apache Junction.

According to the court paperwork, Corwin was swerving back and forth across the main travel lanes when she swerved into the emergency lane and hit the back of Cotten's vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Department of Public Safety officers said Corwin showed signs of impairment. She agreed to a portable breath test and reportedly registered a breath alcohol level of 0.175.

A judge set Corwin's bond at $108,000.
