PHOENIX -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in east Phoenix Friday night.

Victor Hernandez, 27, faces charges of second-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor. Police said he had multiple warrants, including probation violation.

Officers responded to shots fired near 36th Street and Monte Vista Road where they located a blood trail that led them to a gunshot victim, according to Phoenix police spokesman Officer James Holmes.

Phoenix Fire Department personnel pronounced James Barney Wrona, 25, dead at the scene.

Investigators said the two men had been involved in an argument before the shooting and Hernandez fled the area.

Hernandez was arrested Tuesday night while inside a vehicle near McDowell Road and 22nd Street.

Holmes said Hernandez was in possession of a bus ticket to El Paso, Texas.
