PHOENIX -- The school year is rapidly winding down, and that means lots of teens will soon be pounding the pavement, looking for summer jobs.

On Tuesday's Good Morning Arizona, Yetta Gibson spoke to the folks at for some job search tips for the teenage set.

Finding summer employment may prove easier than teens or parents think. A new study predicts that there will be plenty of jobs available this summer.

But the trick is getting in the door, and selling yourself. "You've got to go face to face with these managers," says Theresa Maher with "Go out, make a name for yourself. Talk about the merchandise if it's a store that you like, how you know the product, how you know the customer."

One thing working in teens' favor is that there might not be as much competition this year. "Some of those other candidates who were going for those summer positions are looking more for full time work right now and aren't going to be going after those as much," says Maher.

Computer skills are always attractive to employers. And if you're flexible with your hours, that's another plus. And places like Home Depot might be looking for teens with some physical skills.
