PHOENIX -- The Maricopa County Sheriff’s detention officer accused of stabbing his father is denying the allegations.
CJ Joe, 27, has entered a not guilty plea to charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted second-degree murder.
Joe was arrested on April 21 after he allegedly stabbed his father with a Swiss Army knife at his father’s Avondale home.
According to court documents, Joe’s sister said her brother and father had been arguing about politics prior to the stabbing.
Joe has been working as a detention officer since 2005. Officials said he is on leave without pay.
Joe is due back in court on June 25.
