KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Mohave County sheriff's detectives are investigating a vehicle fire that occurred outside a medical marijuana dispensary preparing to open in Kingman.
Sheriff's deputies spotted a large amount of black smoke around 6 a.m. Sunday and found a vehicle on fire in front of Kingman Green Medical Dispensary in the 2000 block of Northern Avenue.
Firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said the vehicle fire caused minimal damage to the building.
Carter said investigators determined that a man purposely set the vehicle on fire while he was driving eastbound on Northern Avenue. Witnesses said the man was holding a lit object as he drove the car toward the building. They then saw him throw the object onto the passenger-side floor.
The man was seen running from the burning car to a vehicle waiting nearby.
The suspect is described as approximately 6 feet tall and between 200 and 210 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a hat, dark jeans and dark shoes.
Carter said the burned vehicle was a 1990 Dodge four-door sedan that was reported stolen out of Glendale.
The motive is still under investigation.
