PHOENIX -- Gov. Jan Brewer says there have already been 200 fires in Arizona this year. Now she and Sen. John McCain are both trying to get help before anything big flares up.

On Thursday, the governor spoke at the Arizona National Guard Center, where she said she's confident the state is prepared. She says she has approved this year's preparedness request by the state forester, which means we have the resources in place. If Arizona sees massive fires, they will be fought by federal, state, local fire teams, as well as contract crews.

"We hope for the best, but always prepare for the worst," Brewer said.

Just two years ago, 1 million acres burned in Arizona because of campfires. The governor asks that everyone obeys all state and fire restrictions, especially during high-wind red-flag days.

McCain is requesting more military aircraft from the Department of Defense should anything happen.
