Lose five pounds in five days: The Dr. Oz DetoxPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Shorts and bathing suit weather is upon us. And lots of folks are wondering how to lose those last few pounds, and fast!
Doctor Oz has some ideas about how to shed that weight, and he shared some his tips with us on Monday's Good Morning Arizona. In fact, he outlined an entire week of detox-related shows that will help get us swimsuit ready.
One component Dr. Oz likes for creating your own detox is acacia powder. "It's a shake-able powder you can put on any food you're eating, and it can help you feel full," he says. "It will help you eat less. But in addition I want you to take green tea bags and steep them for about 20 minutes, then add a little bit of honey or agave if it's bitter. That will rev your metabolism up."
Dr. Oz also promises to outline the best belly-fat blasters. "The big battle for detoxing is fought in your intestinal system," he says. "there are more bacteria in our gut than there are cells in our body. And once you appreciate that, you realize, I've got to protect the good bacteria and get rid of the bad ones."
Friday's show is called "The Swimsuit Diet", something sure to be of interest as we head into summer. The diet was created by Harvard researchers, who say you can lose five pounds in five days if you do it right.
"They argue that it's about protein," says Dr. Oz. "If you have a lot of protein, eat most of your calories early in the day, those calories don't seem to be as harmful for you. And you have to sleep. Because if you're not sleeping you'll get up and crave carbohydrates."
