Man arrested in Country Thunder stabbingPosted: Updated:
PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. -- A man was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center Saturday after he allegedly stabbed another man at Country Thunder.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said deputies received a report around 5:30 a.m. of a verbal argument between two groups.
When deputies arrived they found a 36-year-old man suffering from stab wounds to his upper back and rib cage.
The man was treated and airlifted to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn where he underwent surgery and is in critical condition.
Deputies identified the suspect as 20-year-old Austin Hansen and placed him under arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and aggravated assault.
Brian Andrews, producer of Country Thunder, said they care deeply about the safety of those attending this weekend's concerts.
“Our primary concern is always the safety and experience of our patrons, music fans and the general public,” said Andrews. “We don’t feel the actions of one person should overshadow four amazing days and nights of events.”
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu echoed Andrews’ thoughts.
“Country Thunder has always been a great experience. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is out in force and there is plenty of security here. People should still feel safe coming here as this was an isolated incident,” said Babeu.
