PHOENIX -- The man accused of fatally stabbing a former ASU football player is back behind bars.

Ian MacDonald, 26, was re-arrested this week.

The reason for MacDonald’s arrest is not yet known.

MacDonald is suspected of killing Tyrice Thompson on Jan. 27 while Thompson was working as a bouncer at the Scottsdale bar Martini Ranch.

MacDonald and his girlfriend had reportedly been asked to leave the bar when a fight broke out in the parking lot.

Thompson was stabbed five times during the altercation.

Police arrested and questioned MacDonald a few days after the incident, but then released him and continued with their investigation.

According to police, MacDonald had told friends that he had stabbed Thompson and needed help getting rid of the knife.

MacDonald was arrested again in connection with the crime, but was released last month after posting a $75,000 cash bond.
