Phoenix weather: Mercury rises for weekend outdoor festivals, fairsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The work week is wrapping up much differently than how it started. A storm system that brought Arizona high winds, snow, thunderstorms and rain on Monday seems like a distant memory as temperatures flirt with 90 degrees Friday.
High pressure continues to build in from the west, so unseasonably warm weather will dominate the forecast heading into the weekend. Expect a high of 88 Friday in Phoenix under partly cloudy skies.
Saturday morning's Valley lows will dip into the upper 50s and 60s. Saturday afternoon, Phoenix is expected to hit 90, with a repeat performance for Sunday afternoon.
A storm system in the Gulf of Alaska is going to approach the Pacific Northwest this weekend. As an associated cold front heads in our direction, we'll see winds ramp up for Sunday afternoon and continue to see breezy to windy conditions through Tuesday. While it won't be as windy as it was this past Monday, we could see gusts of up to 35 mph across a few Valley locations from time to time, which would be enough to kick up dust once again.
This front will be dry, so we aren't expecting any rain as it moves through, but we will see temperatures fall once again.
By next Wednesday, we could see afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
