PHOENIX -- Susanne Bragg sure is thankful these days. She's also a lot happier. It's a complete turnaround from when she was first profiled in a recent 3 On Your Side report.

Bragg is an avid reader. She loves reading books to her grandson.

With all this reading, Bragg says she inadvertently joined an online book club when she tried to use a $5 Internet coupon. The book club wound up charging Bragg $300 in membership fees.

"There must have been fine print that I never saw, that I didn't know about," Bragg said, still questioning how got involved in the membership. It turns out the $5 coupon was a trial offer.

After 3 On Your Side got involved, Discount Book Sale agreed to return only $40 to Bragg, She was out the remaining balance, but chalked the experience up as a lesson.

However, the night the news report aired, a viewer named Robert was watching. He said he felt  kind of sorry for the reading grandma.

"Your story touched me and I wanted to help," Robert told 3 On Your Side.

Robert generously gave me $300 so I could give it Bragg.

"I hope she says she'll take her son to the bookstore and buy him all kinds of new books," he said.

With those three crisp Ben Franklins in my hand, I went to Bragg's house to tell her about this kind viewer and, of course, to give her that money.

A surprised Bragg, who was in tears, said she is grateful.

"He gave me my money back," she said. "I can't believe that. I just can't believe that. That is so nice."

Bragg says the stranger's generosity has restored her hope.

"Thank you so much," she said to the man she probably will never meet, but whose kindness impacted her life.
