Phoenix weather: Spring cold front crossing Arizona
By Jennifer Thomas
PHOENIX -- A strong cold front is pushing across Arizona on Monday, bringing high winds, blowing dust and some scattered rain and snow showers.
So far, the peak wind gusts have been above 60 miles per hour at Springerville, Flagstaff and Williams.
Around the Valley, the peak wind gusts have been around 45 mph in the East Valley.
We're also seeing scattered rain and snow showers in northern Arizona. At Jacob Lake, north of the Grand Canyon, brief, heavy snow was reported. At Flagstaff, we've had many reports of graupel, small pellets of snow and ice. Overnight, it is possible to see a bit of snow in parts of the high country and in the White Mountains, we may see some accumulating snow on Tuesday.
The Valley, in the meantime, has a slight chance for a few thunderstorms Monday night as the front pushes through. After that, it's going to get rather chilly. Tuesday morning lows around metro Phoenix will be in the low 50s and highs will only be in the 70s.
