PHOENIX -- It's the time of year when everyone kicks off the boots and shoes and grabs the sandals and flip flops. But first? There's that trip to the nail salon to make sure the old tootsies are in shape to be seen. It's sort of like bikini season for your feet.
You may have seen the recent "nail cams" at various celebrity events where the latest in manicures is shown off. But you may be surprised to find that even when it comes to pedicures, there are seasonal trends.
We headed over to 20 Lounge in Scottsdale to find out what's "in" for strolling the beach, lounging by the pool or just hanging out in the Arizona sun.
The first thing you'll notice is colors. Pastels are coming into fashion for toenails mainly because a lot of the cute sundresses are in flowery pastels. They include light greens, blues and lavenders.
But at the the same time, the folks over at 20-Lounge say that bright orange is also being asked for a lot lately.
Sparkle polish is also big this summer. That may be because nail technicians say it stays on your toes longer than regular polish.
But if you want the ultimate in time between pedicures, try doing the new "gel" applications on your toes. That's the polish that is cured under a light. It's been used for the hands for some time, but it's just now making its way down to your toes with new special lights that you can stick the top of your foot into.
Nail techs say the gels can make your pedicure last up to eight weeks. That's nearly half the summer!
