MESA, Ariz. -- Two men were hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries Saturday morning after a pole broke during a training exercise near Sossaman and Pecos.
Mesa Fire said the men were training to work on power lines as part of the Southwest Apprenticeship Program when the pole snapped at the base and they fell some 45 to 50 feet to the ground.
The men, who are both 26 years old, suffered multiple fractures as well as some back pain.
One man was taken to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital, while the other was transported to the Maricopa Medical Center.
They are both said to be in stable condition.
