GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Off-road racing legend Mickey Thompson used to pack stadiums with Baja-style racing in the 1980s and now driver Robby Gordon is hoping to bring all the jumps and excitement back.
University of Phoenix Stadium has been undergoing some major renovations this week in the form of 500 truckloads of dirt. There are multiple jumps and a track wide enough for side-by-side action.
Gordon’s new concept of Stadium SUPER Trucks involves high-powered off-road trucks racing side-by-side on challenging dirt tracks consisting of huge jumps, crossovers and tight corners.
Professional drivers including Arie Luyendyk Jr. race for a huge Championship purse – the biggest in off-road today.
Other classes involve BIGFOOT® Monster Truck racing, Quad racing and UTV racing all held in stadiums that we keep you on the edge of your seat!
The green flag waves Saturday night but for a preview of what's to come, Gordon took me for some big time air!
