I-10, SR 51 to close for weekend constructionPosted: Updated:
Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these weekend construction projects from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for April 5 through April 8:
*Southbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) closed between Loop 101 and Bell Road from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday (April 7) for overhead sign installation. Loop 101 ramps to southbound SR 51 closed. The north- and southbound SR 51 on-ramps at Union Hills Drive closed. DETOUR: Loop 101 drivers can exit at Cave Creek Road or Tatum Boulevard and go south to Bell Road to access SR 51. Travelers on Union Hills Drive can use 32nd or 40th streets to Bell Road to connect with southbound SR 51.
*Westbound Interstate 10 closed between Seventh Street and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (April 6) for tunnel maintenance. Ramps from southbound State Route 51 and westbound Loop 202 to westbound I-10 also closed. DETOUR: Westbound I-10 drivers can avoid closure by using northbound I-17 starting at the I-10 ‘Split’ near Sky Harbor Airport. Westbound I-10 traffic exiting at Seventh Street will detour along McDowell Road.
*Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to two lanes between Sarival Avenue and Citrus Road from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Saturday (April 6) for Loop 303/I-10 interchange construction. On-and off-ramps will remain open.
*Both Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) off-ramps at Hawes Road closed from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday (April 6) for work related to SR 24 construction. DETOUR: Drivers can use Power or Elliot roads while restriction is in place.
*Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed at 56th Street intermittently, for approximately 10 minutes at a time, from 6 a.m. to noon Sunday (April 7) for Salt River Project overhead utility work.
