PHOENIX -- What an honor to take part in the Inspired Soles stiletto art show. When they first asked me to do it I thought, how cool. And then I thought, uh oh -- pressure!

There are so many amazing pairs of shoes on display at this show.

While I love fashion and design, I am not an artist (my little sister is and she definitely got all of the talent in that department), however I teamed up with local artist Ashley Macias who does gorgeous murals and paintings. (Ashley was No. 13 on the Phoenix New Times' Creatives 2012 list, which profiled 100 creative forces in Phoenix. She is amazing.)

My favorite color scheme at the moment is deep blue and aquamarine paired with rich yellows. So, we came up with a design that incorporated those colors – and, of course, Ashley’s skill. The shoes were made to look like a peacock, which is such a beautiful creature.  The title of our entry is Urban Peacock.

My fashion philosophy is streamline your outfit and pick one outstanding feature to focus on, whether it is a great piece of jewelry, a pop of color or a pair of fabulous shoes.

I love to see women show off their personalities through fashion; to be fearless and have fun! That’s one of the beautiful advantages we women have.

The shoes will be on display at the 2013 Inspired Soles art show and auction to benefit Artlink Phoenix, which is dedicated to building and promoting a thriving arts community in Central Phoenix.

You can see the show at the 6th Avenue Gallery, 650 N. Sixth Avenue (basement level) in downtown Phoenix as part of this month's First Friday.

Public showing: 6 p.m.- 10 p.m.
