Parks and Recreation employee accused of child molestation
Arthur Rey Juarez By Jennifer Thomas
PHOENIX -- A Parks and Recreation employee is facing charges of sexual conduct with a minor and child molestation for alleged incidents involving three teenage boys in the 1990s.
Arthur Rey Juarez, 42, was arrested March 30. He had been scheduled to be at an activity with children on Easter Sunday.
Police said the incidents occurred at Juarez's home between 1995 and 1998 when the victims were 13, 14 and 15 years old.
The two brothers and their cousin initially reported these crimes in 2001, but they were unsure if they desired prosecution at the time and the case was closed, according to Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos.
During a case review by the Child Crimes Task Force this year, the victims were re-contacted and expressed their desire to pursue charges.
Martos said Juarez admitted to his involvement in these crimes.
A judge set his bond at $150,000.
His next court date is April 8.
Due to Juarez's employment and his access to children, detectives are asking anyone who may have information related to this suspect to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-4543.
