TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police arrested a 16-year-old boy accused of making threats to shoot people at his high school.

Police received a tip late Monday night that the student had made threats via social media indicating that he planned a shooting at Marcos de Niza High School on Tuesday.

Police immediately began an investigation.

Detectives contacted the teen at his home early Tuesday morning and took him into custody. He was booked into jail on a charge of interference with or disruption of an educational institution.

Police believe the student was acting alone and that there are no other threats associated with him.

The student's name has not been released. Police said he is a junior at the high school, which is located near Guadalupe and Rural roads.
