Police identify man hit by train in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Police have released the name of a man who died after being hit by a train in downtown Flagstaff on Friday.

He has been identified as Craig Sampson, 58, of Flagstaff.

The eastbound train hit Sampson at the intersection of San Francisco Street and East Route 66 around noon.

The man was transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.

At this time, police do not know if Sampson intentionally stepped onto the tracks.

The investigation is ongoing.
