University of Arizona student dies after motorcycle crash on Mount Lemmon

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A 19-year-old University of Arizona student died Friday from injuries he sustained after his motorcycle went over a guard rail on the the road up Mount Lemmon.

Spencer Repp lost control of his motorcycle going southbound on General Hitchcock Highway, aka the Mount Lemmon Highway, late Friday afternoon, according to Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies.

Repp sustained serious injuries but was conscious and talking to rescuers, according to sheriff's officials.

Repp was airlifted to University of Arizona Medical Center where he died from his injuries later that night.

Deputies have determined that speed was a factor in the crash.

Repp was originally from New York state.
