Blood glucose meters recalledPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Johnson & Johnson is voluntarily recalling nearly 2 million of its One-Touch Verio IQ blood glucose meters.
The recall is worldwide, but includes 90,000 meters sold in the United States. It's unknown how many of those are in Arizona.
The Life-Scan unit of Johnson & Johnson says the meters malfunction and will not provide a warning if blood glucose levels are extremely high.
The manufacturer is offering a free replacement. Johnson & Johnson says patients can continue using their current meter as long as they understand the defect, but 3 On Your Side recommends ordering a replacement.
Patients who are using the One-Touch Verio IQ meter should call Life-Scan customer service.
