PHOENIX -- An 8-year-old boy had to be rescued Saturday afternoon after a hike at Papago Park turned dangerous.

The boy’s mother called firefighters to the scene after the boy was unable to get down from a hole in a rock formation.

Fire crews strapped the boy to a harness and were able to get him down to safety.

The child didn’t suffer any injuries.
