Phoenix weather: Cranking up the heat this weekPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- After a gorgeously sunny back-to-work Monday in the Valley, with afternoon highs in the mid 70s, Mother Nature is going to turn up the warmth.
High pressure is building into the region. Not only will this weather feature keep the sunshine around for the entire week and through the weekend, but it’s also going to make our temperatures soar.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, afternoon highs in the Valley will jump into the 80s, with the 90s on tap for Thursday and Friday.
Technically, spring does not start until March 20, and a normal high temperature in Phoenix for this time of year is 76. But in these final days of winter, we will feel the heat and challenge records.
According to the National Weather Service office in Phoenix, Thursday’s record high temperature is 91 set back in 2007. Friday’s record high temperature is 92, also set back in 2007.
Besides the heat, high pressure is going to keep our air stagnant, so allergy sufferers beware. Tree pollen is predominant this time of year. Without any rain to wash it away, the count will be high this week. Keep the tissues close by!
