CHANDLER, Ariz. -- It is the only festival in town that will allow you to cheer for an ostrich race one moment and enjoy an ostrich burger the next. The 25th Annual Ostrich Festival is back again and bringing animals big and small to Tumbleweed Park in Chandler.
From Marvelous Mutts, a dog sport team showcasing canine athletes, to The Freakshow Deluxe, the Ostrich Festival has plenty of shows and attractions to entertain the entire family.
The races Saturday proved to be both unpredictable and entertaining as the ostrich riders struggled at times to stay on top of their birds. The event also featured donkey races that started out slow but the donkeys were able to make it to the finish line with a little encouragement.
Guests also have the opportunity to meet Disney Channel "Shake it Up" star Roshon Fegan. If you missed Fegan Saturday he will be at the festival on Sunday for a meet & greet at 1 p.m.
The Ostrich Festival is located at Chandler’s Tumbleweed Park at 2250 South McQueen Road. The festival will run through midnight Saturday and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
General admission is $10 for adults, $7 for both seniors and youth 5-12 years old. Kids 4 and under are free. Discounted passes are available at all local Fry’s Groceries. Parking is $5.
