PHOENIX -- A Valley woman can thank one of the walls of her home for saving the life of her young child.

Katrina Rethi’s daughter came dangerously close to being seriously injured when a car struck their home near 75th Avenue and Osborn early one morning.

A young man somehow lost control of his vehicle, prompting him to slam into Rethi’s house.

Rethi’s daughter was sleeping on the other side of the wall that the driver struck, but fortunately several bricks were able to stop the car before it did any tragic damage.

“I pretty much went into mom mode,” said Rethi. “Went in my daughter’s room, held my baby, thank God she’s ok!”

Despite all the commotion and panic, Rethi’s daughter remained asleep through the entire ordeal.

Rethi said she’s just grateful her family wasn’t injured.

“I took off work a little bit to be with her and my husband because I’m just amazed that she is still here with me.”
