PHOENIX -- A Tempe couple has once again found good fortune while playing the Arizona Lottery.

Diane and Kerry Carmichael have been announced as the winners of Wednesday’s draw for the $1 million Powerball second prize.

The Carmichael’s also won $2.5 million in 1995 while playing the Arizona Lottery’s The Pick game.

“Good things come in threes. Two down, one to go,” said Diane Carmichael, who was obviously in a celebratory mood.

Diane Carmichael purchased their winning ticket at the Arizona Lottery’s Phoenix office on University Drive, which is also where they bought their winning ticket in 1995.

The Carmichaels are retired and are still being paid a $125,000 annuity from their win 18 years ago. The annuity will expire in December 2014.

The Carmichaels said they plan to speak with their financial planner, adding that they will “resist the urge to splurge.”

The Carmichaels' winning ticket is the 19th $1 million Powerball second prize winning ticket sold in Arizona since $2 Powerball began in January 2012.

Last year, a winning ticket for the $587.5 million Powerball jackpot was sold at a convenience store in Fountain Hills.

The next Powerball draw will take place on Saturday. The jackpot is estimated at $150 million.

Tickets can be purchased at any Arizona Lottery retailer.
