TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a suspected drug smuggler and seized nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana concealed in false compartments in a 2003 F-350 pickup truck.

Agents working at the state Route 83 checkpoint Monday afternoon discovered 444 wrapped bricks concealed in various compartments throughout the truck after a canine team alerted to the vehicle, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The Drug Enforcement Administration took possession of the drug load valued at $744,000. The male driver, who is a U.S. citizen, faces prosecution.
