Chore app teaches kids responsibilityPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Want your kids to do their chores? There's an app for that.
These days, it's almost easier to connect with your kids through texts or facebook. So why not assign chores, using technology?
Gregg Murset is the founder and CEO of the My Job Chart app and website. The program can teach kids responsibility, and help make doing their chores more fun, as well as educational.
"My Job Chart is the fastest growing website to teach kids about work and money," says Murset. "320,000 members in two years."
Murset, a father of six, came up with the app to help other families cope with organizing chores.
Kids go online or use the app to find out their chores of the day, and then earn points for doing them. "The points represent money," Murset says. "Penny a point, in our system."
After they earn those points, they allocate them into three different areas. "They save, they share, or they spend," Murset says. "Hopefully they'll learn something and won't have to go through the financial disaster that we all just went through these past few years."
The program can create any kind of chore you want. "It's totally customizable," Murset says. "So if you want your kid to wash your dog, take a picture of your dog, and upload it. The dog's picture will come up and she'll know, okay, I need to wash the dog."
The online chore chart is free. And busy and parents can check chores and update progress using apps on their iPads and cell phones. You can find out more information by clicking here.
