PHOENIX -- A big announcement was made at the Phoenix City Hall Tuesday morning that will add about a thousand new jobs to the Valley with the expansion of USAA.
Located near Interstate 17 and Happy Valley Road, the insurance and banking company geared toward veterans is already a large facility, but soon it will be a lot bigger.
"I can tell you from firsthand experience I was never more impressed with the facilities, what they offer their employees, not just in terms of salaries and quality jobs, but in terms of the amenities they offer their employees," said Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton.
Ground is expected to break at the beginning of the summer of 2014. Building the facility will add numerous construction jobs and once the 380,000-square-foot expansion is done, it will need a lot of new workers.
"We will add as many as 1,000 new employees to our Phoenix office," said USAA Phoenix General Manager Harriet Martin. "That's a 33 percent expansion of our current workforce of more than 3,000 employees."

Martin said they're already starting to flip through résumés.

If you're interested in working for them, just go to the company's website, www.usaa.com, to apply.

The new USAA facility is expected to be up and running by the end of 2015.
