CHANDLER, Ariz. -- A 30-year-old motorcycle rider is dead after a car made a left turn in front of him.

It happened at about 5:45 a.m. at Germann and Cooper roads in Chandler. According to Sgt. Joe Favazzo of the Chandler Police Department, the driver of a southbound silver Ford Focus turned on a flashing yellow left-turn arrow, pulling right in front of the motorcyclist.

Favazzo said the motorcycle rider was traveling northbound on Cooper Road and entered the intersection on a green light at what appears to be an average speed.

"The motorcyclist appears to have laid the bike down prior to impact," Favazzo said in an email alert to media outlets. "The bike and rider struck the passenger side of the car."

A driver passing by stopped to render aid and attempted CPR on the motorcyclist.

David Logan Edmonds, of Chandler, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, identified as Monica T. Trejo, 39, of Mesa, was not injured. She was cited and released for causing a moving violation death. She also was cited for driving with no license.

The wreck is under investigation and any other witnesses are asked to contact the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130.
