GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Officials at Luke Air Force Base say an airman has died following physical training.

They say the airman was assigned to the 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron at the base in Glendale.

Luke officials say he was found unresponsive following physical training on Thursday.

The airman was transported to West Valley Hospital in Goodyear, where he was later pronounced dead.

The name of the airman is being withheld until his family can be notified.

His age and hometown also weren't immediately released Friday.

Base officials say the cause of death is under investigation.

The 71-year-old base has long been the training ground for F-16 pilots.
